How we, ASC would match au pairs with host families?

For the host families’ part, which is all well-off and well-educated, we would do surveys into different parts, e.g. doing home visiting, to know well about their needs and requirements and to consider whether they are suite or not to live with a foreigner. After , list several candidates for them to choose; for au pairs , after filled the application form, we would try to know more about their background , education experience, religions, qualities and preferences. If all the conditions are perfect, we would invite them to join us. After their arrival in China, we would make some basic training about the life here to help them to adapt quickly. For several invitations may from different host families, they can also make their choice. And after the match succeeds, there would also be series training for both families and au pairs during the whole program, to let them know each other better and feel well living together for the culture difference.

Original Intention of ASC

Judy (ASC's GM) is a two kids' mum. Her kid learned English since 3 years old, one class a week, after 3 years the kid still focused on the words not the speaking. Judy found a way to invite an au pair from domestic normal agency. The agency was welcoming and active between host family and au pair. However, the au pair could not stay long(planned 6 months, actually 3 weeks) for no classroom to do real language practice, caring little for au pairs, illegal visa, individual activities instead of au pair group, no follow-up service both for host family and au pair. Judy is also a company’s GM for ten years, and she believed that she found a way accord with Chinese own situation, that is, Au pair Study in China, here you are an au pair as well as an international student.

What I need to do as au pairs

Firstly, get the right position in your new family. Not like au pairs in foreign countries, there would not be so much housework ( for already home-keeper already there ). You are the elder children in the family, as one part of a whole , not a stranger .
Secondly, stay and play with the kids as much as you can . Just like their elder brother or sister, be a good model for them in habits, behaviors, talking, manners, etc. While talking with them in English, you can also let them be influenced by Western culture after parents’ permission .
Lastly but not with the least importance, you need to enjoy everything , not like I have to do it, should be I want to it. That’s how you can make your Chinese stay meaningful and unforgettable.
