How we, ASC would match au pairs with host families?

For the host families’ part, which is all well-off and well-educated, we would do surveys into different parts, e.g. doing home visiting, to know well about their needs and requirements and to consider whether they are suite or not to live with a foreigner. After , list several candidates for them to choose; for au pairs , after filled the application form, we would try to know more about their background , education experience, religions, qualities and preferences. If all the conditions are perfect, we would invite them to join us. After their arrival in China, we would make some basic training about the life here to help them to adapt quickly. For several invitations may from different host families, they can also make their choice. And after the match succeeds, there would also be series training for both families and au pairs during the whole program, to let them know each other better and feel well living together for the culture difference.

Original Intention of ASC

Judy (ASC's GM) is a two kids' mum. Her kid learned English since 3 years old, one class a week, after 3 years the kid still focused on the words not the speaking. Judy found a way to invite an au pair from domestic normal agency. The agency was welcoming and active between host family and au pair. However, the au pair could not stay long(planned 6 months, actually 3 weeks) for no classroom to do real language practice, caring little for au pairs, illegal visa, individual activities instead of au pair group, no follow-up service both for host family and au pair. Judy is also a company’s GM for ten years, and she believed that she found a way accord with Chinese own situation, that is, Au pair Study in China, here you are an au pair as well as an international student.

What I need to do as au pairs

Firstly, get the right position in your new family. Not like au pairs in foreign countries, there would not be so much housework ( for already home-keeper already there ). You are the elder children in the family, as one part of a whole , not a stranger .
Secondly, stay and play with the kids as much as you can . Just like their elder brother or sister, be a good model for them in habits, behaviors, talking, manners, etc. While talking with them in English, you can also let them be influenced by Western culture after parents’ permission .
Lastly but not with the least importance, you need to enjoy everything , not like I have to do it, should be I want to it. That’s how you can make your Chinese stay meaningful and unforgettable.

Asc-An Agency You Can Trust

Why you can trust ASC

 (1) ASC - belong to a company , which is over 10 years and always with good fame and reputation at local . As for the only and un-changed aim , we are not only for the profit , the more important is to be stronger and better , we’re making progress together with our customers .

 (2) Although there are some agencies in China already about au pairs , such as in Beijing and Shanghai . But here in Nanjing , we are the first : Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province in Eastern China , which has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture , having been the capital of China for several periods . The market here for au pairs are big , but the supply is far less than the need ; we are the special one : not like other agencies in other cities , we care more about the au pairs . If the au pairs complete the period , they would get flight reimbursement according to different time length (3 months or less , 4-7 months , 8-12 months ) ; If the au pairs are interested in Chinese and its culture , they will have professional teachers and 8-hour a week Chinese learning ; If au pairs stay in China more than 6 months , they are paid to Nanjing Normal University or other famous Universities to study as international students , to make friends all over the world .

(3) It is a brand new but with great potential program in our company , so we are supported and willing to reduce our profit to try to supply a better environment for all aupairs .

The Role of An Agency

Why need an agency as a third part for Au pairs in China ?

First , in china , only 1% - 5% people know there is a job as au pairs . Even for these few , which are high-end with extraordinary education , they don’t know how to look for the right one and cannot be responsible for everything , like Visa (no special visa for au pair in china) , all documents needed , Chinese and its cultural learning , conflicts may happen between au pairs and families , etc . All these need an agency to deal with , it acts like the bridge between host families and au pairs .
Besides , as for the concerned laws in China , families are not allowed to recruit e au pairs directly , there must be a responsible enterprise , which is strict ed and authorized by the laws .
What’s more , a good agency will make a strict screen for both sides - families and aupairs . For aupairs ,it’s mentioned in the website(www.asc-center.com: about ASC , requirements ). For families , must with good income , background ,education, and basic English-speaking skills . It’s like a guarantee for both sides .

(P.S.about the visa : Since no Aupair Visa in China , what we would do is : 1. Apply visa from embassy directly in the name of our company ; 2.get the authorization from our Competent Department , then send the invitation to you directly .)

When a Peking Family Meets Aupair

If you are curious about aupair life , I strongly recommend a Chinese movie When a Peking Family Meets Aupair, or 洋妞到我家 in Chinese. In this movie, a Columbian girl called Natali came to a Chinese family in Peking as an au pair. This movie at first is filled with misunderstandings or even conflicts due to cultural differences. But as the movie goes on, the family and Natali know more about each other's culture and lead to a happy ending.
However, families are different from each other, as well as au pairs, if you want to know more about au pair life, being an au pair.

Key Words of Aupair Life

Being an au pair is one of the best and most joyful opportunities to live and work in China for a longer period of time.  By becoming a family member for the next 6-12 months you will immerse yourself in the Chinese culture, improve your knowledge of the Chinese language and gain valuable life and people skills while caring for children at the same time. It will put your flexibility, your sense of responsibility, and your organizational and communication skills to the test.Your au pair experience will add an international character to your resume and will give you great assets in future positions involving, i.e. management, organization or childcare.

Be a Family Member

You are different from regular Au Pairs, as foreign Au Pairs in China are more involved in the educational aspect of the host family’s children’s lives, and less involved in the household chores which are common for Au Pairs in the rest of the world. You are kids’ elder sister or brother, and an adult daughter or son or close friend at home. Therefore, you are treated as a family member and involved in all kinds of family activities.  The host parents invite you only for supplying good English environment for their kids. Most families have only one kid, which means your responsibilities of childcare would be not heavy like being aupair in other countries.

Holiday with Friends

As an ASC student you’ll have the chance to set off on your own and travel around Nanjing. Nanjing is a comprehensive national communication hub. Its external traffic extends in all directions, including airline, railway and highway, etc. Take a trip with fellow ASC students or friends on your time off. You could embark on a day-trip to, say, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, or even travel the country for a whole week. You can of course plan your own route and itinerary, reserve your tickets, find places to stay ... China and its beauty are yours to discover!

Music & Art

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu Province. It is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River. Be regarded as one of the most delightful destinations in China Nanjing is the capital city of six or ten dynasties in ancient Chinese history, Photo of Ming Tombit has a brilliant cultural heritage. Nanjing means “Southern Capital.” It has alternated with Beijing as the capital of big empires and of modern governments.

What Is Asc

The ASC program is an unique way to experience China. Based on international Au Pair standards, this program has continually evolved from the experiences and feedback of the participants. Our hosts are all affluent, well-connected families interested in broadening their children’s horizons through international exchange. The family and the center also understand each ASC student’s desire to learn about China during their stay, and we thought study as an international student is the best way . During your homestay in host family and study in a university or college,we will make every effort to ensure you have an unforgettable experience. Above all, the ASC program is named for its three key elements: Aupair, Study and Chinese culture. If you are interested in China and aupair, please follow my blog.
